The exhibition is titled "Clayiness: Chen Yin, Wang Yuxuan | Blaze : Fan Huaxiao, Li Xinyao" which first categorizes and summarizes the works of the four artists based on their artistic style, and then distinguishes their similarities and differences.
Chen Yin and Wang Yuxuan graduated from the Free Art Studio of the China Academy of Art, and their works include performances, concepts, videos, and site-specific installations. The works presented in a rich and diverse form often represent a roundabout and detached state. Therefore, to enter their works, viewers need to patiently appreciate the complex language pathways in order to finally reach the real emotional islands shrouded in "clouds."
Fan Huaxiao and Li Xinyao respectively come from the Oil Painting Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and the Chinese Painting Department of the China Academy of Art. Their works are expressed in a lively language and also focus on the theme of "life and death," in order to question and associate with the past, present, and future. To some extent, the focus on death or religion is itself an attempt to seek answers, while also reflecting their desires and impulses to understand and obtain knowledge of the world. This desire based on chaotic cognition is the brightest and most shining aspect of young artists.
The exhibition will open on April 29, 2023, with two threads of artworks from the four artists, interweaving into a double exhibition. Reality and illusion, sameness and difference, are intertwined and nested, waiting for viewers to find the most empathetic parts.
