Zheng Pingping:Facing the wild future
On October 8, 2016, the exhibition of Zheng Pingping will be launched.
What do you say about this kind of painting? Is this a monster, too?
It's not easy. .......
Like hell's horse.
It's still a monster.
I want to draw a picture of this monster, too. .......
I'm going to draw a picture of a monster, too. The painting of hell's horse.
——From human disqualification
The exhibition will display more than 10 landscapes and 40 portraits of Zheng Pingping in recent years. Artists have no clear motive and purpose in choosing portraits and landscapes as creation objects. Instead, they describe and express a kind of space of consciousness by means of "weak creation" and relatively traditional painting methods. Therefore, portraits and landscapes only serve as a medium of communication. Artists are also trying to minimize the conceptualization of their works so that the aura of the media itself can be improved Spread out as much as possible. In the eyes of his peers, this kind of creation is close to "self abandoning". However, after Zheng Pingping consciously removed the concept and gorgeous formal coat attached to his works, he actually lowered the threshold for the audience to watch a work. For simple portraits and landscape depictions, anyone with visual ability can "understand" - it does not challenge the audience's cognition and Experience is a kind of mild existence. In a certain context, artists are more likely to create a "square" way of viewing.
The so-called square does not belong to any individual. Compared with the living space of an individual, the square is more like a kind of wild existence - the outdoor space is not a space without people, but a space without attributes. When we follow the artist's line of sight, we will find that Zheng Pingping is more interested in the existence of this kind of painting without attributes, whether it is a portrait or a landscape, whether it is a monster or a hell horse.
