It was originally meant to escape the summer heat, but there is also a new meaning, which is to change your life, change your appearance, and adjust your mood. There are some right and wrong, emotions and trivial matters that have nothing to do, just play around.
Several reasons for deciding to do "Xia Xia Lu":
1. So far, the joint exhibition "Sixth Bullet" has lasted for three years. As always, when we are doing regular space exhibitions, we will allow some more free and active activities in organization and atmosphere to participate, including the short film "The Sixth Bullet" taken by the participating artists in the first year, and the first year. In the second year, we performed an experimental music performance in the courtyard that shocked the security guard. We hope that artists will actively participate in the entire process of activities, break the boundaries between some seemingly non-existent industries, and incorporate multiple expressions such as film, literature, and music into the development of art.
2. "Xia Xia Lu" will be composed of two parts: exhibition + play. In the "exhibition" part, some of the works are unfolded in a way of improvisational proposition creation: starting from a given text semantics, the artist can play at will Its own characteristics and thinking transform the abstract language of narrative/descriptive nature into the appearance of a work. In the "play" part, we hope to break the shackles of the gallery space and set the performance venue in a cave in the suburbs of Beijing. What will happen there is still unknown.
3. Therefore, this time, we decided to go deep into the mountains and forests to find new possibilities for art or music to exist outside of the urban space from a more "wild" state. In ancient times, there was no air conditioner, no hot water, and no 24-hour ice cream, but through the process of "eliminating summer", the ancients also played many works left in the history of art and music: "The Gengzi Xiaoxia Record", "The Record of Eliminating the Summer in Jiangcun", "The Record of Eliminating the Summer in Xin Chou", "The Record of Eliminating the Summer in Ren Yin" and so on. So, in this summer, we also hope that through the act of "eliminating the summer", we will come back and leave some good works and memories. Whether it is a tiger's head or a snake's tail, it still looks like it.
