Tan Ying Jie:Imagine,you are roaming
One hundred thousand space is about to present Tan Yingjie's personal project: imagine that you are roaming.
Tan Yingjie's two feelings constitute the inducement of this exhibition: one is the nightmare about snow on black and white TV when he was a child, and the other is the premonition that he is about to be isolated in the real world.
These two feelings are related to information and information copy respectively. Information will automatically produce a large number of copies in the dissemination. They are everywhere, just like the moss in the dark world, constantly breeding and spreading. Information expansion will bring anxiety, and the power behind it will turn anxiety into an unstable social emotion. The information makes social character become like a copy, hard to find the source and the truth.
The exhibition will be presented as a game. The enclosed exhibition hall is like an indoor swimming pool, which is full of various "plastic news balls". You need to enter the "swimming pool" and pay attention to your feet at any time. Four allegorical works are set up in the four corners of the space. Three pillars are located in the middle of the pool and connected with many antennas. There are short sentences written by Tan Yingjie on them. Here, the antenna is the medium of reception, and the artist imagines himself as a message and roams through it. On the surface, the exhibition presents a relaxed state of "careerism", but each work releases a sense of doubt and strangeness - a relaxed feeling under the power of information copy.
Tan Yingjie, born in Hunan in 1992, graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2016, and now works and lives in Beijing.
